Southwestern Michigan is a
fisherman's paradise. The Port of
St. Joseph on Lake Michigan, and the St. Joseph River
itself, are known throughout the country as one of the top
fishing destinations on the Great Lakes.
Steelhead,
brown and lake trout, chinook and coho salmon, walleye,
smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and smelt are all available at
different times of the year. And then there are the
scores of local inland lakes where you can take musky,
pike, walleye, largemouth bass, and all the panfish you
can eat.

The sport of
bowfishing has also been picking up steam. We carry bows,
arrows, retrievers, and other bowfishing gear. The carp
spawning season was very good in 2008 with the largest fish taken
by bow locally weighing 71 lbs.
FOR THE KIDS:
If you have young anglers you'd like to introduce to Great Lakes
fishing, you can take them to the St. Joe Piers to
catch coho salmon or yellow perch.
