Fresh Fruit While we will have produce available at the store after the harvest (we know where some of the best sweet corn and apples in the area are grown), southwestern Michigan produces some of the best tasting fruit you'll find anywhere.  We're known for our apples, peaches, and cherries, and we're one of the top blueberry-producing areas in the country.  There are a large number of Farm Markets and U-Pick Farms in the immediate area.

Golf:  There are several public courses within 30 minutes of our store.  Brookwood Golf Course in Buchanan, Berrien Hills Golf Club on the river in Benton Harbor, Lake Michigan Hills Golf Club near Coloma, and Lost Dunes Golf Club in Bridgman are some of our favorites.

Restaurants While the usual national fast-food chains make their presence known in the St. Joe / Benton Harbor area, there are also many local 'Ma & Pa' eateries worthy of a stop-in.  Along the bluff downtown, you will find cafes allowing you to sit outside and enjoy the breeze off the lake while watching the sunset behind Chicago.  Besides these pleasant establishments are other personal favorites such as The Boathouse on the river.  Here you can dine on a boardwalk right on the river and the kids can feed free popcorn to the fish.  Clementine's Too is next door to The Boathouse and offers the same riverside ambiance but in a more traditional atmosphere.  All dining here is indoors.  Maritime's in downtown St. Joe, another favorite, has changed formats.  While lunch and evening meals are still served, dancing has become more predominant as the night wears on.  And if you're heading down towards Berrien Springs to fish the dam, you'll find Hopper's Family Restaurant about a mile upstream from the dam on old US 31.  I've never had a bad meal there, but my favorite is their Friday fish fry (my son love's their strawberry milk shakes).

The Dunes:  Warren Dunes State Park is about 15 miles down I-94 and the Red Arrow Highway to our west and south.  There, you can camp, enjoy a walk on the shore of Lake Michigan, hike the dunes, or take a climb up Tower Hill, a 260-foot sand dune that gives you a distant view of Chicago when the weather is right.  With the proper permits, you can even hang-glide off Tower Hill.

Wineries Are you a connoisseur?  Visit the Tabor Hills Winery is only 10 miles or so south of the store.  While I've never eaten at their restaurant, I've heard it's very good.  There are several other vineyards you can visit within a 30-mile radius as well.
