LAKE MICHIGAN:  Don't go.  Lake's a little lumpy today and 14-footers coming tonight.  Maybe this wind will blow the warm water out so the fish will start moving in.

ST. JOE PIERS:  Don't go.  If you don't believe me, click here.  The picture was taken at 1:35PM Friday.

ST. JOE RIVER:  Some guys who were at the dam this morning stopped by earlier and said nothing was going on down that way. 

OTHER STREAMS:  Fish in the PAW PAW!!  Fella just came in and said he's been catching coho and even a steelhead or two the last couple of days up at Watervliet.  Could it be true??

INLAND LAKES:  No news.

WANTED TO RENT

.Would like to get moved ASAP .

I'm looking for a small, furnished or unfurnished, one- or two-bedroom house on a lake in Berrien or Cass County to be my permanent,  year-round residence.

The only requirements I have for the house are:

  • A fairly new home (been in a drafty old farmhouse with spiders too long)

  • Central heat and air

  • Shower

  • Dishwashing machine

  • Cable TV / Internet (I hate satellite)

  • No, or very few, stairs (BASEMENT is good)

Preferences, or things-I-would-really-like-to-have-but-could-do-without, would be:

  • Pier access on the lake

  • Garage or carport

  • Storage shed

  • Basement

  • Hardwood floor (easier to clean)

  • Washer and drier (so I don't have to move the ones I have now)

Things a prospective landlord should know:

  • I'm a disabled veteran with certain physical limitations

  • My rent will be paid with my VA Disability check, so I'd like to pay something close to that amount

  • I'm not above bartering store services to help pay rent

  • I will be living alone except for occasional visits from my son

  • I'm 50 years old - no wild parties

  • I will do as much of any required maintenance work as I can

  • I have a dog who can live inside or out (she's housebroken)

If you think I could be a tenant for you, send me a note or call the store (408-8398) so I can set up an appointment to see your house.  I would like to get moved as soon as possible so I don't have to do any moving this winter.
