All information presented in these reports is provided by fishermen just like you, so help make these reports more current and accurate by letting us know your fishing news.  Come by the store or give us a call at 269-408-8398.

ABBREVIATIONS:  The only abbreviation that will be used here with any regularity is 'FOW' which, as you probably know, means 'Feet of Water'.

REMEMBER:  If the date on this report is a few days old it means we haven't heard anything since that time.  This is the latest word we have and would welcome your input with anything new.

ICE FISHING:  No new news, but better get it in while you can.  Gonna be in the 40s and 50s for the next few days, possibly with some rain.

LAKE MICHIGAN:  Almost ready.

ST. JOE PIERS:  Some news to report finally.  A few whitefish have been taken the last couple of days.  Browns have also been caught and coho aren't far behind.  Some guys are floating spawn, etc., on the river side for steelies.

ST. JOE RIVER:  We hear steelies are being taken, here and there, off and on, from the hospital to Pipestone Creek and up at the dam.  Pretty much the same report on walleye. (Walleye closes March 15) There were boats and shoreline fishermen at the dam, it was very popular today.

GALIEN RIVER:  No news.

PAW PAW RIVER:  No news.

OTHER NEWS:  No news.

TAXIDERMY DROP-OFF

Tops Wilderness Studio

.

Due to storage limitations, we will accept only fish, birds, and small reptiles and mammals.

BJ Sports, Inc. is the official drop-off point for world-class, award-winning taxidermist Elmer Flener of Tops Wilderness Studio.  You're just as welcome to take your animals straight to his studio located at 2383 Roslin Rd. near Coloma, Michigan, but if you want to save yourself the trip, bring it to BJ's.

His rates are:

FISH (all species) $8.00 per inch
BIRDS $175.00 (flyer)
BIRDS $200.00 (desk mount)

Prices are subject to change without notice.

We will do all the required paperwork and collect the 50% deposit for the mount plus a $5.00 storage fee.  We will then make sure your animal is properly prepared for freezing and then place it in our spacious chest freezer.  We will then contact Elmer to let him know your mount is waiting for pick-up.  Your animal will be in his studio within a day or two.

Elmer regularly donates a free mount to the lucky kid who catches the biggest panfish on the 'FISHING IS FUN FOR KIDS' day which is held each year in early August.

If you have a favorite taxidermist for whom you would like to be able to drop off animals at BJ's, have him contact us if he's interested in using us as a drop-off point.

If you are a taxidermist who would like to use our service, send email here.
